NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting

Instructor Led Only Training: Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; shotgun parts and operation; shotgun shell components; shotgun shell malfunctions; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting at straight away and angled targets; cleaning; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Shotgun Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Shotgun Shooting Student Examination, and receive a course completion certificate.

Start time is 8:30 AM to approximately 6:00 PM.

Minimum of 25 targets @ ~$12.00. Plan to shoot about 50 targets.

Course topics include:

• Gun Safety Rules,
• Proper operation of slide action, semi-automatic, and hinge action shotgun,
• Ammunition knowledge and selection,
• Shotgun selection and storage,
• Shooting fundamentals,
• Shotgun inspection and maintenance,
• Marksmanship,
• Shooting range safety.

• Pen/Notepaper
• Eye and Ear Protection
• Hat
• Your favorite shotgun to shoot the qualification. 12 gauge recommended.
• Minimum of 50 rounds of ammunition. 7.5, 8, and 9 shot allowed. 7.5 or 8 shot recommended.
• Credit card, cash, check accepted for target payment at range.
